‘Conjectures', apparently Karan Johar's favourite word which he uses in his talk show Koffee with Karan several times, this word can also be used to describe the state of predicament in which Karan Johar, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul are caught in after their January 6 episode aired on TV.
The infamous episode is expected to give them some more sleepless night, with a fresh case registered against the trio in Jodhpur police station for passing sexist remarks on the show.
Soon after the episode released, it created a stir on the internet with some taking the episode in light humour and some coming all out with their spades pawning on the duo for passing sexist, misogynistic and racist comments disgracing women.
“After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect,” Pandya had issued an apology on Twitter after the episode got viral for all the wrong reasons.
Aiming to teach the top cricketers a lesson for disrespecting women, the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) had suspended the duo from playing in the Australia ODI series and one New Zealand ODI.
Thereafter, their suspensions were lifted on January 24 pending appointment of an ombudsman.
“Since the adjudication of all allegations of misconduct against any cricketer registered with, inter alia, the BCCI is required to be undertaken by the BCCI Ombudsman, whose appointment is pending directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the CoA is the of the view that the interim suspension orders dated 11.01.2019 should be presently lifted with immediate effect. The above matter and decision has been taken with the concurrence of the Learned Amicus Curiae, Mr PS Narasimha. In view of the above, the suspension orders dated 11.01.2019 is immediately lifted pending appointment and adjudication of the allegations by the BCCI Ombudsman,” the CoA said in a statement when lifting the ban.
Taking responsibility for the horrendous repercussions of the episode and apologizing for anything said or done at his show which disrespected women in any manner, Karan Johar said, “I have to say that I feel very responsible because it was my show, it was my platform. I invited them as guests and so the ramifications and repercussion of the show are my responsibility. I have had so many so many sleepless nights, wondering about how I can undo this damage, who is gonna listen to me. It’s now gone into a zone which is beyond my control.”
