Football Phenom Cristiano Ronaldo Accused of Rape by Former Model

Famous footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo is in big trouble following the sexual assault allegations by Kathryn Mayorga. The incident happened 9 years ago but has resurfaced now. The lawyer for Kathryn Mayorga, who claims she was raped by Cristiano Ronaldo in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009, says he has been contacted by a second woman claiming to have been sexually assaulted by the football star.

Leslie Stovall, representing American former model Mayorga, now 34, stated that, "I have had a call from a woman who claims to have had a similar experience." He refused to name the woman in question. As per a few reports online, Ronaldo is accused of anally raping Mayorga in a bedroom in a Las Vegas penthouse where she was changing.

According to the reports by the German weekly "DER SPIEGEL" on Mayorga's rape allegations against Ronaldo, in an out-of-court settlement, Mayorga agreed never to speak publicly about what took place in Palms Place on June 13, 2009. In return for her signature, she received $375,000.

Mayorga has now decided to break her silence. Her lawyer, Leslie Stovall has filed a formal complaint last week in Nevada. He's challenging the settlement, arguing that its only aim was to silence his client. Stovall is also challenging Ronaldo's lawyers. He believes they pursued a non-disclosure agreement to "prevent or delay criminal prosecution" of the alleged assault. Stovall speaks of a targeted "conspiracy," arguing: "Hiding a crime is a crime."

Las Vegas police confirmed they had reopened a sexual assault case from 2009 by request of the woman named in a lawsuit filed on September 27. The football world has been rather silent about this, with not much being made of his omission from the Portugal national team. Ronaldo's sponsors NIKE & EA, however, have made statements saying that allegations of this nature are "concerning" and "disturbing".

Ronaldo stated these claims were "fake news". He denied his allegations, by Tweeting that: "Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in." In a follow-up tweet, he added that "clear conscience will thereby allow me to wait with tranquility the results of any and all investigations."
