Delhi High Court Transfers Probe Against Shanidham's Daati Maharaj's to CBI

New Delhi, October 3: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday transferred the probe regarding Daati Maharaj, a self styled Goodman and an accused of raping a disciple inside Shani Dham two years ago. The probe was transferred from Delhi Police Crime Branch to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The Crime Branch had filed a chargesheet in the case on October 1, 2018, though the First Information Report(FIR) in the case was registered on June 11 at the Fatehpur Beri police station against Maharaj, and others including a woman. Daati Maharaj was booked under Sections 376, 377, 354 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The charge sheet contains statement of the victim provided to the Police and Court. Moreover, a forensic report of mobile records of the accused, their colleagues and others has also been submitted, claiming that they have collected substantial information in regards of the case.

The issue pertains to a 25-year-old woman who lived as a disciple in his ashram, had lodged the complaint that Daati Maharaj raped her at his ashrams in Delhi and as well as in Rajasthan.

The survivor also approached the Delhi High Court seeking probe by the CBI and pleaded for the arrest of the accused by the investigation agency.

Earlier in July, the Court directed the Delhi Police to submit its report regarding status of its probe in the sexual assault case filed against ostensible preacher, Daati Maharaj, founder of Delhi based Shree Shanidham Trust.

The High Court in the month of July slammed police, for not arresting Daati Maharaj even after the registration of complaint.
