Justice K Kalyanasundaram of the Madras HC on Tuesday during dealing with a petition filed by the proprietor of JSK Film Corporation, J Sathish Kumar, issued a notice to Tamil Film Producers Council(TFPC). The Court further directed the Council to submit its response by January 28.
The petition demanded that the TFPC should be stopped from conducting a program on February 2 which is allegedly organised in order to felicitate Ilayaraja, the music maestro.
Besides this, the petition also wanted the Court to stop the council from holding it’s annual general body meeting, which is scheduled to be held on February 25 and further sought appointment of a retired HC judge to hold an election of the office-bearers of the council
J Satish Kumar has accused the governing body stating that it is following a monopolistic approach and not taking the decisions in the interest of the council. It was also alleged that the council is spending huge sums of money on unreasonable causes and the event being planned to felicitate the music maestro is also an example of wastage of money.
He also drew Court's attention towards the fact that it has been a long time since a council meeting was held.
